What’s the story!

Open Ear 2019 is finally upon us and as the build continues on site, so does the excitement!

We’d like to run through and highlight some things with you all before you make the journey down.

Travel / Parking in Baltimore.

For those of you who will be driving to Open Ear this weekend it’s VERY important that you please take note of parking in Baltimore - the town where you catch the Ferry to Sherkin Island from.

Baltimore is a small town but there is ample street parking.  We can't stress enough how important it is to be respectful of the residents and make sure you do not block any entrances / exits / routes. Please read yesterday's post on parking if you missed it.

Don't forget, of course, that we are also running buses from Cork and Dublin on Thursday (Cork only), Friday & Saturday, returning on Monday. To book your seat and make the journey as stress free as possible visit the Travelmaster website:

Travelmaster Open Ear Buses

For those travelling on Thursday, standard ferries per the timetable linked below will be running. We will also have additional ferries running at 7, 8 & 9pm and also a ferry will be returning at 1am.

There will be ferries running back and forth all day on Friday, so we won’t have you hanging around too long to get you to the island.

PLEASE NOTE - THE LAST FERRY WILL BE AT 11.30PM - and this won’t be waiting for people.

Normal ferry service will resume.

Sunday Normal ferry service will be running again, but we will also have late ferries going back to Baltimore at 11pm and 1am.

What to bring with you!

We’d like to prepare you for island living for the please read ahead for some bits n’ bobs info…

Reusable drinking containers

We really want to leave as little trace as possible on the site and island so with this in mind we’d really like you to use reusable containers for your for water, coffee / tea and other drinks. We will have a fresh drinking water tap on site, generously supplied to us by Grown, so please use this and don’t bring superfluous water bottles.

There isn’t a shop on the island so make sure to bring all the supplies you think you’ll need, food, toiletries, skins etc. There is a bbq area on the campsite for you to cook your own food and there will be food vendors on site catering for all dietary requirements.

Our food vendors this year are: Coke Lane Pizza  / Feashty / Tabletop Cafe / Nolwen’s Street Food.

There is no ATM on the island so please bring enough cash with you, some of the vendors will take cash & card and so does the Jolly Roger but do think ahead in this regard.

Open Ear is BYOB

The festival is BYOB and you can bring your drinks anywhere with you on the festival site. We ask you not to consume alcohol in the community centre or St Mona’s Church and to not bring your own drinks to the Sunday party in the Jolly Roger, they will have ample fresh pints on tap to ease you into Sunday’s festivities.

Scrubbing up
There will be free showers available on site from 8am every morning.

Festival Opening / Closing Times: Thursday - 5pm - If you only have a Weekend Pass you will NOT have access to the site on Thursday. Please only arrive if you have a Opening Concert ticket or a 4 Day Pass.

Friday - Festival site opens at Midday.

Monday - Festival site closes at 11am on Monday morning.

Out Out's Tousist has provided us with a brand new Dj mix that you can also listen to in the soundcloud link below. He will be Djing at our closing party on Sunday night in Banger Cliff.

And finally…

If that FOMO is starting to kick in, fear not, our last few Weekend Passes are still available!
